Akidemics is a non-profit educational program designed to enhance social and economic skills of inner city children. Akidemics stresses the importance of reading, develops college and career goals, and creates a forum for young people to discuss social issues, generate ideas, and discover solutions to problems in their communities.

The project targets children age 4-17, and consists of a series of three programs Fundamentals, Classifieds, and Commencement. Fundamentals is an afternoon reading and entertainment. Classifieds is a one-day college/career seminar for high school children. Commencement is a teen summit/open forum that addresses social issues, and concludes with an Akidemics Jam Session.

The summer of 2006 will mark the beginning of the First Annual “Akidemics Edutainment Tour." This six city tour (Los Angeles, St. Louis, New Orleans, Chicago, Atlanta, & New York) will consist of a fun-filled weekend that will include reading, poetry, music, career seminars, college workshops, and a Lifestyles Forum to discuss social issues affecting inner city children.

This live main-stage event will be free to children participating in existing local civic and community organizations. The tour will be designed to “promote” the value of education, the importance of career development, and the development positive social ideas.
